Pre-Operative Testing
Cohen Children’s Medical Center requires that your child undergo a pre-operative testing visit. At that time, the anesthesia department will ask you questions, tell you what time surgery is scheduled, go over feeding instructions and determine if any blood work is necessary. If blood work is needed, the test will be performed there

Pre-Operative Testing
Our office will guide you as to whether any blood or urine testing is necessary before your child’s surgery. In general,
-
No testing is needed if your child is healthy and older than 6 months -
African-American children younger than 4 years require Sickle-Cell testing -
Girls older than 14 years require a blood or urine pregnancy test
X-Rays
If your child is having bladder or kidney surgery please brings the sonograms, VCUG, nuclear scans of the condition with you to the hospital. Your surgeon needs to have these x-rays in the room during the operation.
